Our Mission & Standards

About Puppy Weight Predictor

We bridge the gap between published veterinary growth research and daily pet care, providing free, evidence-backed developmental forecasting tools for pet parents, breeders, and clinicians.

Why We Built Puppy Weight Predictor

When raising a puppy, one of the most common questions is: "How big will my dog get, and how much food should they eat each day?"

Unfortunately, most calculators on the web use crude linear multipliers from the 1970s or hide their tools behind aggressive email collection walls and insurance sales funnels. We created Puppy Weight Predictor to give dog owners direct, transparent access to peer-reviewed veterinary growth standard models (Salt et al., 2017) and WSAVA caloric calculations—completely free, private, and registration-free.

Our Core Principles

Peer-Reviewed Science

Every curve and metric is rooted in published research (WALTHAM growth standard charts, PLOS ONE, and NRC nutritional guidelines).

Privacy & No Sign-Up Walls

All calculations happen locally on your device. We do not demand your personal email address or telephone number to view results.

Veterinary Safety First

We provide realistic confidence ranges and clearly emphasize when clinical veterinary consultation and physical exams are required.

Comprehensive Breed Standards

Over 250 AKC-recognized purebred profiles with sex-specific weight bounds, size categories, and growth timelines.

Editorial & Data Review Standards

Our technical and editorial content is curated and updated under strict verification protocols:

  • Evidence-Based Citations: All formulas reference published peer-reviewed journals (PLOS ONE, Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association) or recognized regulatory bodies (WSAVA, NRC, AAFCO).
  • Mathematical Accuracy & Continuous Testing: Our software engines undergo automated unit test suites (`vitest`) to verify that edge cases, units conversions (lbs/kg), and percentiles remain mathematically sound.
  • Continuous Feedback & Updates: We welcome corrections, clinical feedback, and suggestions from veterinarians, licensed vet technicians, and canine nutritionists.
